a blog that hits close to home

"I've never spent this much time talking to my cousin." When I read this it made me think about our family relationships. How much do we take our family for granted? This quote is from a post on my aunt's blog talking about right after my cousin suffered from a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the chest down. I read this quote and thought about us growing up. He is about 4 years older than me with his sister in between us. I think about times when we would play hide and seek in my grandma's house and the time that he helped me hide in the dryer. I think about how most of these memories occur during the holidays and the fact that anytime we would go to his hockey games or hear about his tennis match or a ski race, it was rarely followed up with a great amount of time spent together after. This blog is about not taking your family for granted and cherishing all of the time that you spend together.

  1. I completely agree. You never realize how much you miss out on family time you could be having until you are at a holiday gathering and have a lot of fun. I'm sorry to hear about your cousin's injury but its awesome that you have such great memories. It really makes you realize just how important family is and how we shouldn't take what we have for granted.
